Opportunity Details

SMART Reading - Volunteer Reader

As a Volunteer Reader, you will:

  • Attend training and receive ongoing support from the Volunteer Site Coordinator
  • Read with individual students or a full classroom weekly at a participating elementary or PreK program
  • Commit one or more hours per week to read with the same students each week
  • Contribute to improving reading skills and confidence of students in your community
  • Work alongside other volunteers to provide a positive environment for participating students
  • Assist children in choosing books to keep to build their personal libraries!
  • Follow all SMART Reading and school safety policies
  • Limited virtual options are available

Most school year programs begin in October and end in May and are scheduled during the school day. Specific days and times vary by location and are determined by the school partner.
